About Micheal's Workshops.......

micheal

My workshops are limited in size to allow me to give more individual attention to each student. The essence of my workshops will focus on composition, application of color and contrast.

Starting with simple shapes, I show each workshop student how to place the correct values and colors in the design as accurately as possible. From this simple lay-in I concentrate on the overall design elements to produce the finished piece of art.

I enjoy teaching workshops because they give me a chance to share what I have learned through the years; what I look for when visualizing a scene, what I inclue and omit in the overall composition of the work. During the first session, I will begin the class by showing examples of paintings created using simple palettes and simple design.

In my workshops, I demonstrate the value in selecting simple subjects that can be developed into strong vibrant paintings. I stress the fact that keeping the design element simple allows the artist to focus on creating a robust piece of art.

I like to keep my workshops small so I can work individually with each student and learn about their goals. This allows me to direct them towards developing their own personal way of seeing. It is important to me as a teacher to share my experiences with my students. I want to help each student find their strength as an artist by individual and group discussion. If I can help a student develop their potential and achieve their goals, then I have done my job as an art instructor.

I am available to teach one day, three day or five day workshops. My minimum number of students is 8 with a maximum number of 11. For workshop pricing and information, contact me at micheal_hammons@att.net.
