Born and raised in the Panhandle of Texas, Micheal moved to Round Rock, Texas in 1988. He has a BFA in Graphic Design and an Interior Decorating Diploma. From 1986-1988, Micheal attended West Texas A&M where he pursued graduate studies toward a MFA in Fine Art and a minor in Art History. He also received his certificate in America Sign Language from Austin Community College in 2014.
Full of vibrant color and striking depth, Hammons’ art captures the special hues hiding just beneath the surface. Micheal unearths the purples and reds in a morning sunrise over Palo Duro Canyon; the vast spectrum of color in a moon drenched orchard on a clear starry night; the vibrant greens and yellows of a birch-filled forest just before Fall. His most popular style is his spiritual series and Haiti related subjects which he truly enjoys doing and is widely collected by many throughout this region.
Whether it be abstract, illustration, plein-aire or realism, Hammons’ work is distinctive and full of detail with a great deal of passion and energy residing in each piece. An award-winning visual artist, Micheal is equally at home with watercolor, acrylic and oil. His favorite subjects are landscapes, urbanscapes architectural concepts, abstracts, Haitism Expressionism and realism.He also do portraits.
When asked why he utilizes so many styles and techniques, Micheal states his philosophy is that growing as a visual artist is a never-ending process. Unlike many artists whose work is easily recognizable, Hammons does not want to be stereotyped into a certain subject matter or media. He believes that, as a professional artist, it is exciting and educating to experiment with different creative processes, otherwise, an artist will never grow and the work will become dull and uninspired.
Hammons is the a co-owner of Reimbursement Specialists, as a Data Entry Clerk. He also teach Private Art Lessons in his studio in Round Rock, Texas.
Micheal is a member of Critique Circle. He is also a President of “Breaking Thru the Silence” where he served as a missionary and humanitairian for the Village of Leveque (Deaf Community) in Haiti. Micheal is Deaf but is able to communicate with both hearing and the deaf using ASL. His work is currently on display at Ministering Physicians - Round Rock, Texas; Texas State University, Round Rock, Texas, George’s On The Town - Georgetown, Texas and MIssion Village Market in Spring, Texas. In his spare time, Micheal enjoys sculpting, home remodeling, swimming, bicycling, and being involved with the Deaf Community. He has a studio in his home which he shares with his wife, Linda, and their five dogs.
